The Workers Museum

The Workers’ Museum invites families to explore the exhibition Leif Sylvester – Freedom Takes Flight. Here, children and adults alike have the opportunity to “catch freedom” together through a range of creative and playful activities inspired by the artist’s work and his theme of freedom. An activity booklet guides participants through the artworks, while along the way they reflect on what freedom means – both to them and to Leif Sylvester.

Bakken

From 11 – 19 October, Bakken – the world’s oldest amusement park – transforms into a vibrant autumn universe filled with spooky fun, thousands of pumpkins, and exciting experiences for both children and adults.
Visitors can enjoy magical shows with Uncle Reje on the Open-Air Stage, explore a brand-new hay bale maze, and – for the bravest – try two brand-new horror attractions in the dark with Bakken After Dark

The Black Diamond - The Great Diamond Hunt

Armed with a compass, map, flashlight, and an adventure bag, The Great Diamond Hunt takes curious children and their adults through the library's buildings. The treasure hunt is free and is especially suited for children aged 6-12 and their adults. Pick up a free adventure bag from the library shop in The Black Diamond.

The Garden of the Royal Library

Equipped with a free experience box, the whole family can go on a secret hunt in the Library Garden. Meet a famous king, a thoughtful author and many more historical characters between the garden's animals and plants. Go on a bird safari, design a statute, be queen for a day, listen to the garden and much much more. Pick up the experience box from the library shop. For kids aged 5-11.

Magical Bead Nets – Workshop for Children During the Autumn Holiday
All opening days from 11-19 October 2025, 11.00 am-3.00 pm


Learn the technique behind creating a magical bead net that can protect you, your bike, your phone - or someone you care about. The ancient Egyptians used magical nets to protect their dead, and during the autumn holiday, you’re invited to give it a try yourself. Be inspired by stories about the power of the net and immerse yourself in crafting your own.

The Danish War Museum - Krigsmuseet

During the autumn holidays, the Vikings will take over the War Museum. Join them in battle and test yourself with military physical exercises.
How did the Vikings really fight? Get up close and personal when the War Museum is transformed into a Viking battlefield with swords and axes during the autumn holidays. 

And also try your hand at training modern soldiers to be ready for battle.

Danish Architecture Center (DAC)

The Danish Architecture Centre invites families to enjoy creative and playful experiences. Visitors can explore the exhibitions Age of Nature and So Danish!, build animal homes from recycled materials in the family workshop, and discover the patterns of nature. Outside on Bryghuspladsen, the Halloween atmosphere comes alive with pumpkin carving, conker creatures and face painting. 

DAC is open daily from 10am–6pm, with late opening until 9pm on Mondays and Thursdays.

Designmuseum Danmark

Family Workshop in the Festival Hall: Ceramic Vases

This autumn, Designmuseum Denmark invites the whole family to unleash their creativity in the Festival Hall. Children from the age of 7 – accompanied by an adult – can create their very own small ceramic vases out of air-drying clay, inspired by the museum’s magnificent architecture.

Natural History Museum Denmark - Iconic expeditions

Cool female scientists and the queens of the animal kingdom!

From October 11th–19th, families can fill the autumn break with exciting experiences for all ages. During this period, the focus will be on the queens and females of the animal kingdom who rule the roost, while also celebrating the 150th anniversary of women’s access to university in Denmark. Visitors can discover fascinating animal species, hear inspiring stories about cool female scientists, and take part in a fun quiz for both young and old

Kronborg Castle

From 11 – 19 October 2025, Kronborg Castle invites visitors to an enchanting autumn holiday experience for the whole family. Guests can take part in the award-winning story hunt “Witch or Not?”, following clues from 1617 to decide whether Bodil Bødker is truly a witch.

Along the way, there are fun, interactive stations where children can write with a quill, fire an air cannon, and even chat with a cheeky parrot. Visitors can also enjoy a coffee break, meet Holger Danske in the casemates, and admire the magnificent view from the Cannon Tower – if they manage the climb of 145 steps.

Autumn Holiday at Kronborg Castle

Frederiksborg Castle

At Frederiksborg Castle, families are invited to enjoy lots of starry moments – a magical journey into the world of stars, both those that shine in the night sky and those who have left their mark on history, art, and culture.

On the short guided tours, you can explore the symbolism of the zodiac, ancient stories, and portraits of great stars of their time – from royalty to sports heroes – with the magnificent 400-year-old celestial globe as the starting point.

Children can also take part in creative workshops, building their own star telescope and imagining brand-new starry worlds.

Frilandsmuseet - the Open-Air Museum

At the Open-Air Museum, creatures from Nordic folklore have taken over the village, and the villagers need help to defeat trolls, elves, witches and huldras. Visitors can meet wise women, frightened villagers, and even try their hand at fighting monsters with bow and arrow.

Between the scary adventures, there are lighter moments with magic shows, troll theatre, face painting, a pumpkin lantern workshop, obstacle courses – and even some dangerous snacks such as poisonous candyfloss, mouldy popcorn and much more.
