Christmas market in the old town hall in Roskilde
The stall holders and the volunteers at the Christmas market in The Old City Council Hall are looking forward to warm mulled wine, “æbleskiver” (apple pancake puffs) and Christmas caroling, as well as the smell of sweet burned almonds from the Christmas market on Stændertorvet. While inside the warmth of the old, beautiful city council hall, they help guests find gifts, homemade Christmas decorations, original design and delicious to-go delicacies. Father Christmas and other cultural features usually find their way during both Saturday and Sunday, and our small in-house café provides a little something for visitors.
The Christmas market is packed with delicacies, clothes, jewelry, handicrafts and decorations. Here, there are only homemade items and the market is organized by volunteers. With the lit up Christmas tree right outside the door on Stændertorvet, and Roskilde Cathedral as our neighbor, your visit can be combined and become an enormous kick start to December and Christmas.
The Old City Council Hall is a beautiful and historic room out of the ordinary. The Old City Council Hall stands today largely as it did when it was inaugurated in 1884, and the setting creates a true St. Peter's Christmas atmosphere. There is direct access to the Christmas market from Stændertorvet and the S-train straight from Copenhagen Central. Read more on the website.
