Autumn break

More than 200 museums, theatres, churches and cultural institutions open their doors for concerts, guided tours, children's activities, exhibitions and surprises. During the autumn half-term, DAC invites the whole family to enjoy creative experiences centred around architecture, nature and imagination. Explore the exhibitions and help build a shared LEGO® city, where children and adults can create houses, parks, playgrounds and entirely new places. In the family workshop, you can also experiment with shapes and patterns found in nature and build homes for animals using recycled materials. On selected days, the autumn atmosphere continues outside on Bryghuspladsen with seasonal activities for the whole family.

Family Activities at the Danish Architecture Center (DAC)

Armed with a compass, map, flashlight, and an adventure bag, The Great Diamond Hunt takes curious children and their adults through the library's buildings. The treasure hunt is free and is especially suited for children aged 6-12 and their adults. Pick up a free adventure bag from the library shop in The Black Diamond.

Equipped with a free experience box, the whole family can go on a secret hunt in the Library Garden. Meet a famous king, a thoughtful author and many more historical characters between the garden's animals and plants. Go on a bird safari, design a statute, be queen for a day, listen to the garden and much much more. Pick up the experience box from the library shop. For kids aged 5-11.

Travel back in time at the National Museum of Denmark and take on challenges from the past. During the autumn half-term, the museum opens the door to distant periods, inviting children and families to discover whether they could survive like their ancestors.

Tivoli Gardens is transformed for Halloween with spiders, scarecrows and thousands of pumpkins. Activities for children include Rasmus Klump, pumpkin carving, visits to the witches, potion-making and games in the maze.

explore the world beneath Kronborg Castle during the autumn break and explore parts of the dark casemates that are normally closed to the public. Families can discover the world beneath the castle, encounter Holger Danske and take part in a ghost hunt.

Autumn Holiday at Kronborg Castle

Bakken combines cosy autumn fun with spooky experiences during the half-term holiday, when the amusement park is transformed with autumn colours, pumpkins and entertainment for children and adults. Younger visitors can enjoy magical children's entertainment at the open-air stage, while a very different experience awaits after dark. Bakken After Dark brings horror mazes and other spine-chilling experiences for those who dare. The autumn programme also continues over the weekend in week 43.

Age: The family programme is suitable for children and adults. Bakken describes After Dark as an experience for braver visitors and horror fans.

Meet trolls, witches, forest spirits and other magical creatures as the Open Air Museum brings Nordic folklore to life during the autumn half-term. Children and adults can protect themselves from dangerous creatures with troll crosses and amulets, make their own witch's broom, colour candles or carve pumpkins. Families can also explore a spooky maze and enjoy troll theatre, magic shows and stories about the magical creatures of the forest. Expect a mix of scares and fun for the whole family.
